| Dr. Ethan Lazarus is honored to be the director of Clinical Nutrition Center. He is a kind, compassionate and understanding Medical Doctor dedicated to helping his patients achieve health, wellness and happiness through better management of their weight. As a Board-Certified Family Physician, Dr. Lazarus began his career practicing the full scope of Family Medicine. His special interest in helping people treat and prevent diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and heart disease resulted in many consultations and referrals to CNC founder, Dr. James Berry. Since joining the staff at CNC, he has focused his practice on bariatric (weight-related) medicine and obesity management. His expertise is now medically supervised weight loss and management of weight-related medical problems. He has received additional training in medical weight management by regularly attending Continuing Medical Education events both through the American Society of Bariatric Physicians and the Harvard Obesity Course. He excels at managing obesity as a medical condition. |
| Most importantly, Dr. Lazarus understands that every person he treats has a unique set of circumstances that has resulted in the weight problem. In all his years of weight management experience, no two individuals gained weight for the same reason. Therefore, every person requires a unique treatment approach. Some people gain weight for emotional reasons - depression, boredom, loneliness, stress, a bad relationship, insecurity, or even abuse. Some have difficulty from other medical problems like diabetes, thyroid issues, joint arthritis, insomnia, digestion issues and food allergies or intolerances, and side effects of many medications. Whatever the contributing factors, exploring the whole person rather than just focusing on the food choices can be an important step to figuring out together the lifestyle changes that will be necessary not only for weight loss, but for long-term weight control. Making the decision to lose weight can be difficult. Many of our patients have been contemplating which direction will be best for them but are unsure of the right choice. As a Physician, Dr. Lazarus holds himself and his staff to the highest standards, always placing his patient's health and well-being first and foremost. He enjoys developing an ongoing rapport with every person he treats, because this caring and understanding is key to figuring out what got each individual in trouble with their weight in the first place. Focusing on the cause of the problem while following evidence-based and scientifically sound practices leads to better weight management and is why his patients enjoy such a high rate of success. |
