Nutrifast

Fasting is the quickest possible way to lose weight.  However, there are  safe and unsafe ways to fast.  
Some patients with certain medical problems should not use fasting programs of any type.  Further,
they should be used for individuals requiring at least 15 pounds (
Modified Fast) to 30 pounds
(
Nutrifast) of weight loss or more.  We will be happy to provide additional information if you have
questions regarding either of the fasting programs.

As the name suggests, the
Nutrifast eating plan was modified from a total fast in which no food was
permitted, to one that includes enough high quality protein to maximize fat loss and minimize the loss
of muscle tissue.  Protein is eaten mainly in the form of high quality protein supplements that can be
mixed in to shakes, soups, and puddings.  Alternatively, one small portion of lean meat, fish or poultry
can be substituted for a meal.
The Nutrifast program utilizes high quality protein supplements that are available in over 30 hot and cold flavors.  
These supplements should only be used under appropriate medical supervision and should not be confused with
over-the-counter products.  Patients who follow the Nutifast Program closely lose weight rapidly, experience little
hunger, maintain good energy levels and generally feel well.  The
Nutrifast may safely be used for until the goal weight
is reached, or for a quick jump start (16 pounds average in the first month) before switching to the
Modified fast,
Advanced  Program, or the Exchange Plan.
