Pick a Good New Year’s Resolution this Year

I know after the New Year, I will see lots of new patients - January is always a busy month for me at CNC. There will be a common theme - "My resolution for the New Year is to lose weight!" I am so happy to work with these individuals and help them achieve their goals! However, unfortunately, all too often, the goal of "losing weight" will result in a quick regain for one of two reasons:

Spinach and Cheese Mini Breakfast Bakes

Mix together spinach, cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese and cheddar cheese in medium bowl. In separate bowl, combine eggs, egg whites, milk, cumin, and pepper then mix with spinach and cheese mixture. Stir in cilantro. Spoon into 12 oiled 2- ½ inch muffin cups and bake at 375 degrees for 20–25 minutes. Remove from muffin cups and serve warm with salsa, if desired.

Saxenda: A new weight loss medication

This is an exciting year for weight loss medications! Hot on the heels of the FDA approval for Contrave, the FDA is expected to approve Saxenda, another novel weight loss drug soon. Saxenda (liraglutide) is an analog of GLP-1 (glucose-like peptide 1). GLP-1 is a hormone our small intestine makes in response to eating.
