Insurance Costs and Medication Access
Learn how we can help you access anti-obesity medications like Wegovy and Zepbound.
Insurance, Costs & Medication Access
Navigating the cost of medical weight loss can be stressful. At Clinical Nutrition Center, we believe in complete transparency. Whether you are looking for injectable options like Wegovy and Zepbound, or prefer Oral Wegovy or other oral medications, our goal is to provide affordable access to the most effective FDA-approved care.
The In-House Pharmacy Advantage
We stock many medications directly in our clinic.
While other patients drive around Denver searching for medications only to learn that they are out of stock, our patients often leave their appointment with medication in hand. This allows us to:
- ✓ Ensure Availability: We prioritize stock for our active patients to prevent treatment interruptions.
- ✓ Control Costs: By bypassing retail markups, we can offer many options—including oral medications (Tenuate / diethylpropion, Phentermine, Contrave and many others) at significantly lower prices.
Insurance Coverage: The Basics
Commercial Insurance (Employer Plans)
Coverage is determined by your employer. Even if you have Cigna or Anthem, your HR department decides if “anti-obesity medications” are covered. If you have coverage, we handle Prior Authorizations for you.
The first and most important step is for you to call your insurance directly and ask if you have coverage for anti-obesity medications including Wegovy and Zepbound. If so, ask what is required for coverage (BMI cutpoints, trial of other medications first, other diagnoses, etc.). If possible, have them email you the form. By preparing for your visit, we can then make sure we work with you to find you the lowest possible price on the medication we choose.
Even if you do not have coverage, GLP-1 weight loss medication price has come down. With our assistance, you can start for as low as $149 / month, or sometimes even lower using strategies we are happy to discuss with you at your visit.
Medicare (2026 Updates)
July 1st, 2026 – December 31st, 2027: Medicare BRIDGE Program brings many Part D subscribers Wegovy, Zepbound and Foundayo for $50 / month. Read more here.
Alternatively, if you have any of the following diagnoses, we may be able to get your GLP-1 medication approved through Medicare:
- Type 2 Diabetes (Often covered for GLP-1s)
- Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) (Wegovy is FDA-approved for heart risk reduction)
- Obstructive Sleep Apnea
- MASH (Metabolic dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis)
