Tom S Weight Loss Success

I was a twelve pound baby, so I’ve struggled with my weight all my life. At one point I was up to 440 pounds. In the fall of 2012, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Shortly after that, on the recommendation of my therapist, I made an appointment for a consultation with the CNC.

I weighed 391 pounds.

Tracy made me right at home and suggested the OPTIFAST modified fast program to start. Over time my program was adjusted to add more “real” food and eventually create a program of regular exercise.

At this point, I’ve lost over 100 pounds and I’ve never felt stronger. I work out 5-7 days per week, and I stopped my diabetes medicine several months ago when we confirmed that I was controlling my blood sugar with diet and exercise.

My family and friends are very impressed and proud of me; I’ve received a lot of compliments. Previously I’d attempted weight loss but always on my own, and while I lost weight, I eventually gained it back— and then some. By working with CNC I got the support I needed, both emotional and nutritional, and my commitment to my program is a part of my commitment to the staff of the clinic.

Probably the most difficult part was starting to exercise. I’ve never been that active but with Tracy’s encouragement and advice I started with just walking to the end of my street. Now I do at least thirty to forty-five minutes of cardio and alternate with weight training. So getting started was hard but I now look forward to my daily workouts and miss them when I can’t fit them in to my schedule.
