How Many Vegetables Do You Need a Day? The Academy puts up a tip on nutrition every day. You can sign up for free at http://www.eatright.org/public/

Have you ever wondered how many servings of vegetables you should eat per day? USDA’s MyPlate gives these guidelines* for the recommended servings of vegetables.
Children

2 to 3 years old – 1 cup
4 to 8 years old – 1 1/2 cups
Teens

Girls
9 to 13 years old – 2 cups
14 to 18 years old – 2 1/2 cups

Boys
9 to 13 years old – 2 1/2 cups
14 to 18 years old – 3 cups
Adults

Women
19 to 30 years old – 2 1/2 cups
31 to 50 years old – 2 1/2 cups
51 years and older – 2 cups

Men
19 to 30 years old – 3 cups
31 to 50 years old – 3 cups
51 years and older – 2 1/2 cups

*These amounts are appropriate for individuals who get less than 30 minutes per day of moderate physical activity, beyond daily activities. For those more physically active, you may be able to consume more while staying within calorie needs.
