Colorado State Employees: GLP-1 Coverage Is Back

Good news for Colorado state employees: GLP-1 medications for weight loss are a covered benefit again.

Effective May 1, 2026, the State of Colorado reinstated GLP-1 coverage for obesity treatment under its employee health plan — covering approximately 30,000 state employees and their families in the Denver-Boulder metro area. As of May 2026, employees who meet plan criteria and have a valid prescription can access GLP-1s for weight loss.

The catch: costs still apply. If you don’t have a qualifying prior authorization, cash price for GLP-1 medications can run as high as $450/month.
